I know I haven't posted here in a while, probably over 10 months. That's actually not abnormal for me, particularly since I probably have at least four different blogs I could chose to post from, two of which I haven't put up anything at in a much longer time frame than this one. Haha. Anyway, if you happened across my site sometime in the last two weeks and got nothing but a white page, I apologize. Sometime between when I updated WP last (while I was away on vacation) and when we got…

We took a week long trip in June this year, to visit a few cities that our daughter and I had never been to before, but that Josh had been, and then also returning to another city we hadn't been to since our daughter was two and a half years old. One of our goals was to drive the Pacific Coast Highway. We started our trip by driving to Solvang, CA, staying one night at Pea Soup Anderson's hotel. After checking in, we drove into town to walk around checking things out. We bought some Danish…

My daughter's fourth bottom tooth has been loose for a while. It just started getting to the point where I could see where it was breaking at the root both in front and back. So it was really very loose. She asked me, "what if I swallow it while I am sleeping?", to which I reply, "Well, if that happens, the tooth fairy won't have a tooth to replace with money. So you should probably try to pull it tonight before bed." "Okay." So she's got a piece of toilet tissue, and is working the tooth.…

A dose of cuteness for the day
I picked up my daughter from daycare today, but before we could walk out of the door, she dashed down to her classroom where her cubby is located. I asked her what she was doing, she said, "I'm going to get my invitations!" Okay... When she came back, with a stack of roughly bookmark shaped cuts of construction paper in hand, I asked her, "What invitations?" "To my birthday party, at JumpStreet!" ...her birthday is not for another six months. So apparently she is already planning her birthday…

Made: A Tooth Fairy Pillow
My daughter is just about to lose her third tooth. It's just loose enough to give me the heebie-jeebies when she shows it to me, but not quite enough to come out yet. For her first two teeth, the tooth fairy had to sneak into her room and swap the tooth for money from under her pillow. This time, there will be a pillow hanging from her doorknob, for easy access without risk of waking the sleeping girl. I found this pattern and decided I'd give it a shot. It took me most of the afternoon to…

Easter dress - 98% completed
I'm just about done with my daughter's Easter dress. All I have left to do is slipstitch the lining to the zipper. She LOVES it so far, and is begging me to let her wear it before Easter. Sorry kiddo! Things I've learned so far on this project: Cutting takes nearly as long as the sewing does. But a rotary blade does make it go faster. Apparently the cutting ladies at the craft store need to learn how to interpret the data on the back of a pattern packet, the parts that tell one how…

The Game of Thrones will be premiering on April 1st.
I can hardly wait! We bought season 1 on iTunes so we could rewatch them, and we also bought a copy of the soundtrack, too.
Yet another countdown...

Counting down to Spring Break
I put a little countdown timer at the bottom of the page (it didn't really fit very well on the sidebar), more for me than anything else I guess. I'm looking forward to a couple of days off when my daughter goes on Spring Break, even if we don't even go anywhere. We're working a lot of overtime at work, which, while is nice on the pocket book (finally - last year we were salaried and were exempt from OT... we got changed to hourly this year... small blessings, right?), it's rough on the brain…

Vacation - there and back again
The three of us just got back from vacation yesterday. We went to Disneyland, for our daughter it was her first time. She did really well with all of the walking we did (we figure we averaged about five miles a day), all of the waiting in line and the boredom that ensues with the waiting. Cast of characters: My husband - J My daughter - Z me Grandma On the drive out, she asked probably about seven or eight times “are we there yet?”, half of which was asked before we had…

Remember not long ago, I mentioned wanting to update the look of my blog? And that it would probably not be a very speedy process, yeah? I still haven’t really gotten past the “wanting to” stage, but I have been rethinking whether I should stick with this CMS, ExpressionEngine (EE), or change back to…. WordPress. Yes, I know. That program frustrated me with the two times my site got hacked, and was the reason I switched over to EE. But designing in EE was…
